Ingredients
  • 8 oz ground beef
  • ½ small yellow onion, diced
  • 1 stalk celery, diced
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 7 oz crushed tomatoes (1/2 can)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp marjoram
  • ½ tsp tarragon
  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • hamburger buns
  • cheese (optional)
Instructions
  1. In a skillet over Medium heat, heat half the oil until shimmering.
  2. Add the onion, carrot, and celery and sweat until softened, stirring regularly, approximately 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the vegetables to a bowl.
  4. Add the remaining oil to the skillet along with the ground beef.
  5. Brown the ground beef, crumbling with a spoon until no longer pink, approximately 5 minutes.
  6. Add the vegetables back into the skillet and stir to combine.
  7. Add the paprika, tarragon, and marjoram, stirring to combine and allow to bloom for a minute.
  8. Add the tomato paste and stir to combine and cook for 1 to 2 minutes to deepen the flavor.
  9. Add the crushed tomatoes and Worcestershire sauce, stirring to combine.
  10. Reduce the heat to Low/Medium-Low and allow the mixture to simmer for 5 minutes, melding the flavors.
  11. Serve on toasted hamburger buns, cheese optional!
