This French toast recipe meets all those requirements in my mind. And, it is easy to make. So let’s heat up the griddle and make our taste buds and belly happy!

Double Dipped French Toast

Cook time:
Total time:
Serves: 1

Ingredients
  • 4 - 5 slices of French bread, approximately ¾ inch thick
  • ¾ cup egg substitute (or 3 large eggs)
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp coconut oil
Instructions
  1. Preheat griddle or large frying pan over medium/medium low heat.
  2. Mix the egg substitute (or eggs), cream, spices and vanilla in a small bowl.
  3. Pour the egg mixture into a large plate or pie plate for dredging the bread slices.
  4. Brush the griddle or pan with coconut oil.
  5. Dredge each slice of bread in the egg mixture allowing the bread to soak up some of it.
  6. Place each slice on the griddle and cook for 3 - 5 minutes on each side until slightly brown.
  7. When both sides are slightly brown, re-dredge each slice and repeat the cooking process.
  8. Remove to a plate and serve with maple syrup, whipped cream, fresh fruit, or anything you desire.
Notes
I like to add the spices to the egg mixture for a more satisfying result. Sprinkling the spices onto the cooking French toast can lead to them burning and ruining the results.
